Marel Food Systems Norway takes over Datadesign
The innovative supplier of advanced food processing systems strengthens its portfolio in software solutions for the food processing industry with the acquisition of Norwegian software expert Datadesign.
Datadesign have developed and supported products such as Scanfisk, EDIXPO, Scansea Logistics and other software solutions for the Norwegian food processing industry. Approximately 30 of Marel Food Systems’ customers are currently running Scanfisk – Datadesign’s software packing system for salmon – and 20 customers in the meat and poultry industry are using other Datadesign software systems in their production.
“With the acquisition of Datadesign we not only team up with one of our most important strategic partners through the last ten years, we are also able to extend Norwegian ingenuity on the software field to the rest of the world via our global organization,” says Marel Food Systems Norway Managing Director Stein Hendnes.
Software products from Datadesign are already being used by other Marel Food Systems’ customers internationally.
Strengthened emphasis on the Norwegian market
With the purchase Marel Food Systems Norway wishes to reinforce its commitment to the Norwegian food processing industry and continue its effort to create new and innovative software products.
“The acquisition is a strong signal of commitment to the Norwegian market where we are upgrading our existing customers to the new software platform from Marel Food Systems, Innova,” Stein Hendnes continues.
Seller of Datadesign is Trond Edvardsen, a former employee of Scanvaegt Norway and current Managing Director for Qvision A/S in Oslo.
He explains: “We have worked very closely together with Marel Food Systems companies for many years and came to the conclusion that we could offer much stronger products to the industry by sharing our knowledge and competences in software.”
All Datadesign expert engineers and system developers stay in the company and will continue to support all existing software developed by Datadesign. The new united company will be located in Harstad where one of Marel Food Systems’ offices in Norway is already located.
